It's Soccer Time!

Dahlia decided she was ready to try out soccer this year so we are in full swing of being soccer parents now, read: I'm a soccer mom. And very proud of it. It will basically be the thing we do for the next 2+ months so it's a good thing that so far Dahlia likes it and going to her game today was really fun. There is a lot of good lessons to be learned in this cool sport and Dahlia is definitely learning them. Most importantly: what it means to be on a team and having fun versus being the best (this one is hard for her so we are really glad she is getting a lot of practice with it). Lessons for Matt and me are not lacking either--i.e. how to be an appropriately calm yet appropriately enthusiastic spectator when on the inside, when Dahlia took the ball from "coast to coast" and scored a goal and turned around with a giant smile across her face I felt like shooting off the field and exploding in a cloud of rainbows. Wow, just writing about it again I feel a little drugged. Really though, it was fun and Dahlia and her team, The Shooting Stars gave it their all and collapsed in sweaty mess when it was over.
