Little buddy turned 3!

Jake and the Neverland Pirate

I'm three! (cool photo by Mr. Siebert)

Brown eyed boy. These eyes melt me.

Milo buddy is now a full fledged little dude, complete with conversation and silliness, coordination, and attitude.

Conversation: He is quite articulate as of the past few months. He can express some his feelings, "I am very mad so I will scream." or "You take my toy, I be sad." And we are just loving the look on his sweet little face when he's trying really hard to explain something to us and you can literally see him searching for the words in front of you as though he has a scroll in his heart. I say heart because he is extremely passionate.

Silliness: He really enjoys being laughed at. When he finds something that is funny to us, he does it over and over for multiple days (sound like Matt, anybody???). He loves to strike poses with crazy faces just to be funny. He likes to be tickled, "Tickle me, mama!...Again!" He likes putting "poopoo" at the end of phrases. Typical conversation:

Mama: I love you, Milo.
Milo: I love you, poopoo.
Mama: Milo, poopoo is not a nice name for me.
Milo: I love you, peepee.

Attitude: It's a good thing he's 3 or we'd have really hurt feelings around here. He says mean things often. We aren't exactly sure why. We know he doesn't mean them to be hurtful in a mean way. Probably just wants a reaction. "I don't like ____ (insert everything and anything he does actually like)." "You smell bad, go away from me." "I don't want you to be home from work. Go outside."  "I don't like you." "I don't like your hair like that." "I don't like it when you wear those shoes." He never says mean things to Dahlia, though.

Coordination: Milo can speed down slopes on his balance bike and scooter,  dribble a soccer ball, draw pictures of people, do a somersault, and dance or clap to a beat with some rhythm.

It's very difficult to wrap a complex little person into a blog post. Those are highlights of the daily Milo. ALSO...he is extremely sweet and introverted and also can be very extremely stubborn and loud. He LOVES pesto pasta and burritos but is a pretty picky eater in general.  He likes Jake and the Neverland Pirates and Curious George. He plays with trains, puts his pals to bed, draws, and "cooks." He loves his sister. They are definitely best friends in the truest sense of best friends.

At his birthday party Milo was a little troubled by the large party of about 20 kids. It was too much for him. At one point, I took him to use the bathroom and he told me, "When I come out of the bathroom, everybody will go home." I told him no, the party was not over. He said, "I will open the front door and everybody will walk out and drive away in their car and I will close the door." No, Milo the party is not over. "I don't like my party," he said. :( Sad!!!! Poor guy. Though I know he liked it at least a little. Next year he will really be able to tell us how he wants his party. And he did have a great day with a super awesome surprise present: Tia, Tio, and Leila came! We had a fun family celebration later in the evening with them and Tita and Tito that was more his style.

Happy Birthday, Miloman! We love you so very much.

Our costumes were built around Milo's. Jake, Izzy, "Red Jessica," and Scully's cousin.
