We took on Passover Seder this year with full force, hosting a dinner with 17 people. I must say we are pretty happy with how it went. It was a perfect Spring afternoon which was extra perfect because the only way to comfortably seat 17 people at our house is to go outside. So an outdoor Seder it was, and it was perfect! Not to mention that it was Easter Sunday, so it was a full on, integrated, multicultural sort of day that began with hunting for Easter Eggs and ended with hunting for the Afikomen. Lots of parallels in the Holiday, especially because we focus on the Spring aspects of Easter.
We had a lot of FUN at our Seder. Everybody who came contributed which made it feel extra communal and special, and less stressful. Adam brought really yummy individually portioned potato kugel, Yve brought some candy she ate as a kid, Erik created a playlist of Jewish inspired music, Matt made homemade Matzo Ball Soup...and more. I combined a couple of kid-friendly Haggadahs and added some hands on activities for the kids (coloring the Haggadah, masks for the plagues), and Tito arrived with his signature shaker of awesome margaritas. So we had quite a lively crew by the time we sat down. The older kids stayed seated for almost the whole Haggadah reading, which was great and the after dessert we ended the evening with a Frozen Dance Party on the patio. A few more pics below.
