Bisabuelito

Abuelito and Abuelita at our wedding in 2004Cuatro Generaciones

Last week we said good bye to Dahlia's great-grandfather, her bisabuelito, my abuelito. Sadly, Dahlia did not really get to meet him. Dahlia, you should know that your bisabuelito was a great man: a caring father, a grandfather, a devoted husband, an engineer, a teacher of many things, an artist, a fisherman, a mentor, a friend, an animal lover, an herbalist, and a great-grandfather. I am sure you have some of him in you, and for that you should feel very proud.

We spent the week in Texas with a lot of family. Dahlia got to meet her great grandmother for the first time, and also spend time with great aunts and uncles. Dahlia was a true sparkle amidst the sadness the week brought. It is hard to stay too sad when she is snuggling you or screaming at you to feed her more mandarin oranges. Here is a slideshow of the family times.
