We were fortunate enough to get a family vacation to Hawaii this summer. We traveled with Abuelita, Abuelito, Tio and Tia for a week of Oahu beaches. We had a wonderful time getting Dahlia comfortable with the ocean, being beach bums, visiting Hawaiian parks, hiking, and hanging with the family. She was tentative with the ocean at first--the first few beaches we went to had waves that were a little strong for her liking so she mostly enjoyed the surf and sand. But she loved swimming with us in the calm beaches, although she didn't like the taste of salt water too much. But who does? While she got to do a lot of bonding with her tios and abuelitos, it was especially special to get to re-bond with her dada on this trip. She'd been going through a little phase of "dada isn't as good as mama" which was hard on everyone. But a little jaunt to the middle of the Pacific and dada is back in action! Can't wait to go back! The warm, turquoise ocean is calling all of us.
